WhAT WE DO!
OPEN MOLDING
The most common method of production where fiberglass is applied using a “chopper” gun. The process offers design flexibility and molds can be less expensive. Used with lower volume parts where good cosmetics are important.
CLOSED MOLDING
This method uses dry fiberglass cloth that is placed between two halves of a sealed mold. Vacuum is applied drawing resin into the cavity to saturate the material. Used with higher volume parts where material thickness is important.
HAND LAY-UP
Hand lay-up uses fiberglass cloth that is saturated with resin and laid into the mold by hand. Normally used with complicated shapes or small parts where reinforcement cannot be easily applied using a ‘chopper’ gun.
COMPOSITE SELECTION
Carstens Industries is at the forefront of the fiberglass industry, and our commitment to composite selection is central to our success. Through careful selection of our materials, we are able to enhance a products physical and chemical properties to meet certain standards and increase durability.
MOLD BUILDING
Carstens Industries, an industry leader in fiberglass manufacturing, boasts a dynamic and innovative approach to mold building that sets the gold standard in the field. Mold building is a critical cornerstone of our production process, where precision and artistry converge.
